2015 Wedding Gown Trends

Donna Holland of Party Dress Express, New England's #1 Retailer for Proms, Weddings and Special Occasions shares what’s hot for Bridal in 2015!

Wedding Gown Trend #1: All Over Lace

“This look is so romantic,” said Holland. “Right now we’re really seeing a return to romance and lace is all about romance. What’s lovely about this trend is it’s far from your grandmother’s lace. Yes, you can get a nod to a vintage-type feel  in some wedding dresses because that is so popular now, but many of the silhouettes are thoroughly modern and very fashion forward.”

Wedding Gown Trend #2: A Touch of Lace

“A touch of lace can work beautifully on the bodice or just on the hem.  It can be a very sweet detail when the dress is mostly satin and you want hints of embellishment.  It can also act as a surprise element of the wedding gown.  For instance, wearing a high neckline and then having a dramatic back covered in lace.”

Wedding Gown Trend #3: Ball Gowns

“So many Brides that come into Party Dress Express want to feel like a princess on their wedding day. So we’re always happy to see wedding ball gowns as a huge trend. What we like about some of the gowns for 2015 is the size of the ball gown, if you will, is sized down a bit, which is nice for Brides who want to not feel like their wedding gown is wearing them,” Holland told us.

Wedding Gown Trend #4: Sleeves

“All lengths of sleeves are a huge trend this year,” Holland said. “More and more of my customers are buying reception dresses, so I think the thought is, ‘Why not look elegant and a bit romantic for the ceremony and then buy something a bit sexier for the reception?’ Also, it’s a very timeless look.”

Wedding Gown Trend #5: Color

“We loved seeing color on the runway this year. I definitely think this is influenced by Brides, especially celebrity brides, using hues of pink, gold and silver in their gowns.  Brides-To-Be are also on Pinterest a lot and they definitely want to have something special and unique on their wedding day. We cannot wait for all the wedding gowns and dresses to come in!” Holland said.

Wedding Gown Trend #6: Dramatic Backs

“This is one of our most favorite trends,” Holland told us. “Everyone always talks about that ‘Bridal gown reveal’ which is everyone at the ceremony seeing the Bride in her beautiful wedding gown for the first time. But now, there’s another reveal - the gorgeous back of the wedding gown, whether it’s a long draped back, a key hole back or a lace back with crystal embellishments. The is the ‘ah after the ‘ooh’!, Holland excitedly told us.

So which trend is right for you? Holland answered, “I always say to my Brides-To-Be, don’t get too caught up in what everyone says the latest trends are. Try on some of those gowns if you feel like they are your style. When you are in the right one, you’ll know it. It’s just like when you knew it when you met your Groom-To-Be, it will just feel absolutely right!”
