Bridal Jewelry Goes Big, Bold and Beautiful

Selecting wedding day jewelry for you and your bridesmaids is another item on your already much too long to do list.  There are many factors that will determine what type of jewelry to wear on your wedding day, for instance, your dress style, particularly the neckline, veil and hair style, formality of your event, what you’re comfortable wearing, and what trends are hot at the time of your wedding.

Here are our favorite hot bridal jewelry trends and how to wear them.

Bridal Jewelry

Statement necklaces – Bib and multi-strand necklaces really make a bold statement and add glamour to your look. The bib style features multiple stands of beads that are grouped together for a chunky look while multi-strand styles are loose and move independent of each layer.  These styles might feature flowers and ribbons in addition to semi-precious stones, colorful beads, or rhinestones.

wear with: since these styles are somewhat heavy looking, they are best worn with simpler strapless or off-the-shoulder dresses where they’ll give detail to an otherwise plain area.  If wearing a statement necklace, opt for smaller earrings.

Chandelier Earrings – This type of earring, as its name implies, has multiple layers of clear or colorful beads or stones that hang and move and can become quite large the more layers it has.

wear with: Chandelier earrings look great with an up-do and look nice with gowns that have a plain front or are strapless.  If wearing chandelier earrings, wear a simple necklace or no necklace.

Cuff bangle bracelets – Cuff bangle bracelets encrusted with colorful semi-precious stones or gems are also popular and getting the layered treatment.  Multiple styles can be mixed and matched for a dramatic accent.

wear with: Cuff bangle bracelets make a statement when worn with sleeveless or short sleeve dresses.  Bunches of bangles may also be a good option for plain sleeved and high neck, ornate front gowns, where a necklace should be avoided.

In the end, no matter what the trends, accessories should be balanced; simpler jewelry should be worn for more casual weddings and with dresses that are heavily embroidered or beaded, and you should choose bridal jewelry that you are comfortable in and that matches your taste and style.
