Altar
Traditionally, there are flower arrangements on either side of the alter. These tend to be on the larger side, so that they can be seen from afar.
Trellis
If you're having an outside wedding, you may want to consider renting a trellis. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Many Massachusetts florists rent these and will decorate them with your wedding colors.
Pews
You may want to decorate the pews with a simple ribbon and flower arrangement. You may also use these to mark reserved seats for special guests.
After the Ceremony
After the ceremony, there are many options for the flowers. Below are some suggestions:
- Have a family member or guest bring the bouquet to the reception to use as a centerpiece on the gift or reception card table.
- Deliver them to a nursing home or hospital for someone else to enjoy.
- Deliver them to a sick friend or relative who could not attend your wedding.
- If there is a service the next day, they may be left behind.
Print a flower checklist to bring to your florist.
Cutting Flower Expenses for the Ceremony
Decorating with flowers can be expensive so we've listed a few ways in which you can cut florist costs.
- Split the cost of the flowers used at the ceremony site with another couple that is getting married there that same day.
- Make sure your wedding is not near a major flower-giving holiday. Such as Mother's Day or Valentine's Day.
- If you are married in a church near Easter or Christmas, chances are that the church will be fully decorated for that holiday.
- Get married in a garden setting - that will surely save you money on flowers!
- Use colored pull bows instead of flowers for pew decorations.
- Use the flowers from your ceremony to decorate your reception site.
