| If you have guests coming from a long distance, you are not responsible for their expenses. The guests are responsible for their own transportation and lodging expenses. However, the parents of the bride or groom should provide the guests with any information regarding lodging. |
| If you contact the hotel approximately six months in advance, you should be able to reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate. Be sure that you take into consideration your guest's budget. |
| Send your guests a quick note stating where (perhaps include a map), when (dates), and the room rates. If possible, include different hotels in different price ranges (to accommodate all out of town guests). You may want to include rental car info. You can also include a list of tourist attractions in the area. |
| Have one of your friends or relatives show your out-of-town guests any tourist attractions. Or you can have them schedule fun activities such as: golfing, site-seeing, museums, go to a sporting game, or even a show. Have your friend or relative host a cocktail party or brunch for all those out-of-town guests who are not invited to the rehearsal dinner. This will give them time to unwind and get to know some of the other guests that will be attending the wedding. |
| Make your out-of-town guests feel special for coming such a long way to be with you on your special day by sending them flowers, fruit basket or candy to their room with a thank you note attached. This will show them your appreciation. |

| If you have out-of-town guests coming to your wedding, why not leave them a special basket full of little "goodies"? Some items you may include are: |
- Snacks such as crackers, granola bars, nuts, chocolate, etc.
- Bottles of spring water, juice or soda
- Directions to the rehearsal dinner
- Directions to the wedding
- Maps and pamphlets of tourist attractions
- Deck of cards, toys and games for the kids
| You can put these items in an inexpensive basket or gift bag with a little note to express how thankful you are that they will share your special day. You don't have to spend a lot of money on each basket - it's just an (optional) gesture to say "thank you." |
