Wedding Announcements |
Wedding announcements are sent to any far away relatives, friends or any guests whom you could not invite to your wedding. You do not have to send them - some feel as though they are soliciting for gifts. Wedding announcements are similar to newspaper announcements, except that you are directing this happy news to specific people who will share in your happiness. |

If you've already established a career using your maiden name and are now getting married and changing your name, send a wedding announcement to your colleagues to let them know of the change in your name. |
A wedding announcement is worded like a wedding invitation. The wording of the announcement should have the same level of formality as the wedding invitation itself. The bride and groom or their parents can announce the wedding. Example: |
If the parents make the announcement:
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith have the honor to announce the marriage of their daughter (or "announce the marriage of their daughter") Mary Ann to James Alan Nelson Saturday, the fifth of May Two Thousand St. Mary's Church Worcester, Massachusetts |
| If the bride and groom make the announcement: |
Mary Ann Smith and James Alan Nelson (or James and Mary Nelson) announce their marriage Saturday, the fifth of May Two Thousand St. Mary's Church Worcester, Massachusetts |
| You can send the announcements out the night before your wedding or else have a family member or friend send them out the day after your wedding. |
