Jillian and Mike were married on September 4, 2016 at the Chocksett Inn in Sterling, MA. A lovely couple that worried the whole week as a tropical storm made its way up the coast. Admittedly, I was a little worried for them, as well!
Let's back up a few years: Jillian lost her grandfather suddenly to a tragic illness. Sadly, he was a big part of the family's lives and this was obviously a difficult time for the family. It was even worse for Jillian, as she would not get to see him on the most important day of her life. The morning I arrived to the wedding venue, it was warm and sunny - quite a departure from the forecast of clouds and rain. Each time I checked my iphone's weather app, the hours looked better and better! Luck? Maybe..maybe not...
I met Jillian in her bridal suite and she had this glorious smile and glow about her. Sure, this was her wedding day, but there was more. I asked her why she had this little sunflower. She smiled even more. You see, the sunflower was her grandfather's favorite flower. That morning, despite the forecast, a single sunflower bloomed in her grandmother's yard. His yard. Coincidence? Maybe, but I like to believe that there are some things we are not meant to question.
In this case, Jillian knew her grandfather was there. Maybe not physically, but he got to see her get married. It was a small but beautiful wedding. A wonderful family and delicious food! Jillian looked stunning and the photos captured her joy. This was her day. This was the most important moment in her life and that little SUNFLOWER she brought made its way from the bridal suite, to the ceremony, and finally to the reception. Her grandfather was there. And...it never rained.
