Ceremonies: Making it Personal

Your wedding ceremony is the most meaningful part of the wedding day. Therefore you should make sure if looks and feels like you. Adding small personal touches to this part of your day will make it even more special. Danielle (our friend, from TheWeddingOutlet.com) shares the small ways she made her ceremony personal and memorable.

Someone Close Officiated

Having someone close to us officiate our wedding was really important to us. We choose my brother to do the job and we're so thrilled to have him included in such a unique, important way.  Leading up to the wedding we all worked to write a ceremony that was personal and meaningful to us. It is a memory I will cherish forever and truly made the ceremony extra special.

Ceremony & Vows

In addition to writing our ceremony, we also wrote our own vows. We wanted to speak honestly and freely during the ceremony. It was simple, to the point and felt right. These vows reside in our keepsake "Our promise book" which is now displayed in our home.

Celebrate the Union

Our save the dates and invitations were made from plantable wedding stationery. We liked the idea of the 'Love Grows' theme, so we started with this. Then we continued the theme by including the 'Planting the Tree Ceremony'. The message of this ceremony was beautiful, honest and it fit perfectly within our ceremony.  The tree was planted in our yard after the ceremony and we will be able to watch it grow for years to come!

Include Friends & Family

Like many couples, we included important people in our life to take part in our ceremony.  Aside from our bridal party, we choose a longtime dear friend to perform a reading and had our nieces and nephew act as our flower girls and ring bearer - carrying a banner with a personalized message! While our parents felt special sitting in the front row - we were sure to thank them with personalized hankies to dry their happy tears!

Taking Care of Guests

We really wanted to make sure our guest were comfortable before and during our ceremony. Our venue was able to create a personalized water station offering guests 3 types of deliciously infused water to keep them cool while waiting for the ceremony to begin.

Say Thank You

In lieu of a program we decided to simply thank friends and family for their love and participation in our day. We included a special message to our guests as they walked into our ceremony.

DIY Projects

We really connected with the illusion of "walking into" our ceremony, so we loved the trending concept of the ceremony doors. My handy-man husband and father-in-law quickly went to work building these ceremony doors using actual doors from our home! We added moss covered initials on each door for a personal touch while our florist added beautiful wildflowers for pops of color. Our flower girls walked down in tulle skirts I made for them, which they now play dress up in!

Adding small details to our ceremony made the day feel extra special. It only takes a few ideas of what is important to you and yours to work them into your day.
