Retro Weddings for Modern Brides

Retro style, incorporating pop culture trends or ideas from earlier times into your environment or way of life, isn’t just for hipsters anymore. Retro style is gaining popularity with more and more modern brides personalizing their weddings with some retro elements.

There is a delicate balance between creating a retro aesthetic that emulates and celebrates a specific time period and going over the top and becoming campy with a decorating style or fad.  A personalized, tastefully put together retro wedding can be achieved by repurposing a few unique found objects from flea markets, thrift stores and estate sales from a particular point in time. Old vinyl records, mismatched floral china dishes, and large white feathers could make interesting accessories within the context of a wedding reception while peace signs and yellow smiley faces might not.

Here are a few of our favorite fads, trends and crazes from the past that can add retro style to the décor and overall feeling of a wedding.
